SIFF moves into its second weekend with Short Films playing alongside feature-length ones, all weekend long. Throughout Memorial Day weekend, the ShortsFest integrates into SIFF events and festivities, unleashing over 150 short films over the course of four days. The films will be packaged together in feature-length presentations and, like the rest of SIFF, represent bold and innovative ideas from all corners of the globe. 

The feature films also continue to give audiences much to laugh, cry, and shake their heads at. A big slate arrives this weekend and below, you'll see what Day 9 has to offer you!

SIFF Opening Night in Shoreline. The spacious theater at Shoreline Community College joins the SIFF festivities with tonight's opening night film, On Chesil Beach, starring Saoirse Ronan, and adapted from Ian McEwan's best-selling book.

THE GUILTY | 85 Minutes - A winner of this year's Audience Award at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, The Guilty tells the story of a emergency dispatcher left largely to his own devices when answering the call of a woman in distress.

THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST | 90 Minutes - Desiree Akhavan's second feature stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Sasha Lane, and Forrest Goodluck as three gay teenagers sent to a gay conversion therapy camp in the 1990s. The film won the 2018 Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. 

ON CHESIL BEACH | 113 Minutes - Though our review expressed some frustrations, On Chesil Beach is a highly anticipated adaptation of Ian McEwan's best-selling book about a disastrous wedding night and the ripple effect that night on newlyweds Florence and Edward, played by Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle.

SHORTSFEST PRESENTATIONS
Global Frames showcases 6 short films from around the world, focusing on acceptance of self and of other people, modernized communication, and other relevant topics.

Keep it in the Family offers 8 shorts telling stories of family dynamics where charactes face moving on, moving back home, and moving forward.

Who Runs the World? shares 7 films which coalesce around the themes of feminism as viewed around the world. From single mothers under threat of ICE raids, a Swedish dance troupe, and an animated look at a Chinese manicurist, this compendium of films presents seven distinctive looks at women in the world today.

Animation4Adults delivers 9 tales of more mature subject matter, presenting a various mix of animation styles and stories from across the globe. 

SUMMER 1993 | 97 Minutes - Our review is below, but Summer 1993 is a powerful story of a 6-year-old girl forced to live with her aunt and uncle, following the death of her mother to the AIDS virus. Autobiographical, though this did not successfully land a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at last year's Oscars, director Carla Simón draws a memorable performance from young actor Laia Artigas.

THE THIRD MURDER | 124 Minutes - On the heels of his winning the Palme d'or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for his new film Shoplifters, director Hirokazu Kore-eda unveils his last film, which won six Japan Academy Prizes, including Best Film. Detailing a murder trial where an attorney's client's confession is called into question, The Third Murder is one of the most highly-anticipated films in the SIFF schedule this year.
