SIFF's Opening Night feature, Thelma, stars June Squibb in her first leading role at 94, as a grandmother on a mission to recover $10,000 she was scammed out of. Richard Roundtree shines in his final role as Thelma's friend, with Fred Hechinger adding depth as her grandson. Playing like a nonagenarian Mission: Impossible, Thelma is a delightful comedy that makes you laugh while rooting for this no-nonsense grandma to right the wrongs against her.
Thelma was screened as part of the 50th Seattle International Film Festival
