| “At what point do you give up nonviolence and confront something truly evil in the name of doing what’s right?” – Rick Ray to The Dalai Lama
An interesting premise, although a rather slight film, “10 Questions For The Dalai Lama” is simply that – a filmmaker creating himself the rare opportunity to sit down with the Dalai Lama. Director Rick Ray has created something akin to what you would see on late-night PBS and in essence, Ray’s film is a biography-slash-interview film that sheds some intriguing light on the exiled Tibetan leader. Ultimately, many may find the scope limited and even a bit self-serving. Yet, whether you engage with the filmmaker’s goals in interviewing the exiled and mysterious religious leader or the somewhat shocking charm and wit exhibited by his Holiness, the film retains a certain bit of charm…even if the film feels as if it is best watched in a high school or college classroom. |
Should I See It?
|
| YES
If you have an interest in The Dalai Lama, this is a fascinating watch; at least once Ray sits down for his interview.
|
NO
Many will find this rather boring. Similar to something you watch in school and then are assigned a term paper or research project once it ends, this is for a limited audience.
